Life Dance

Wearily sitting on the chair, she looked on the table at what she had brought home from the little antique store she spied on her journey. Funny she thought, I don't remember ever seeing that store there before? Then of course there were lots of things she sometimes did not remember. She hated shopping so it wasn't like she was always looking for new places to browse. She could have easily missed a new store.

Looking at her purchase she was wondering why in the world she felt so compelled to bring home that old lump of junk. Probably because it looked like she has been feeling lately, old and worn out. Well at least what ever it is, it is not jumping around with hyper-ness like she was inside. She knew that any minute now her body was going to jump right out of her skin, and her racing heart was going to leap from her chest. And this strange feeling of dread just would not go away.

She remembered while shopping wondering if what she was feeling was showing on the outside. It was hard to keep still, and her balance felt off, so she hung on to the cart like a cane. She could feel her face smiling when her eyes connected with people, but she could not really feel the smile inside. Like she was crusted over with something, just like her purchase. It was hard to be outside away from the sanctuary of her den.

She surprisingly found it easy though to talk to the old antique dealer. Although she still could not figure out why she stopped there. She even told the old woman how she thought that old thing had a shine, like a glow around it. A thought that she usually would have kept inside. The old woman had just smiled, maybe she was humoring me she thought. It was strange though that when I asked the price the dealer's reply was, "Only one dollar for those that see the beauty inside." Perhaps we were humoring each other?
