Where Suzie lived was a little different than the home of Larry and Porcy. She did not have the great forest around her, like they did. Her community was changing rapidly and new houses and business's were popping up all the time. This made her sad sometimes because she always liked being surrounded by the wonderful sights and sounds that dwelled within the woodlands. She kept part of her property wild and natural so she still had this illusion. She would look outside and imagine she could still see the doors to the universe that dwelled within natures own spectacular landscape design.

Suzie did have someplace very special to go though and it was where she worked part time. It was full of animals, many kinds of animals, and trees and paths to walk upon. She not only had the sounds of the forest but also the jungle! Suzie would walk this very special place everyday after work. On one of Porcy's visits she took him to work with her.

Porcy was so very excited about going, he even let Suzie wash and dry his "I Love Suzie" shirt and his cap. But he watched her very closely while she did this, making sure that everything went just right

While Suzie worked in the office Porcy went outside and made new friends. All the animals knew that a special friend of Suzie's was coming. She talked to them every day on her walks and she told them all about Porcy and how much she loved him.

Porcy, being the very special Porcupine that he is, got along with everyone. He strutted around friendly and proud in his I Love Suzie Shirt. All the animals on the compound wanted a shirt just like his. Porcy explained that Larry got the shirt for him, it was one of a kind, special made, just for him.

Porcy had a very long talk with Suzie's special friend the Kodiak Bear. He had never met a Kodiak before and found him to be a very interesting, wise fellow with a wonderful sense of humor. For bear was laughing the hardest when Porcy was telling all the animals jokes and stories just like he does in his forest.

Then Porcy brought out Larry's stories that he always carries with him. He started reading and showing the pictures to his new friends. The only voice that could be heard was Porcy's as all his new friends, sat in wide-eyed amazement and wonder, listening to him reading. The animals all loved having Porcy read to them, and Porcy puffed up real big when he told them Larry was the writer.

When story time was over, Porcy went to visit Otto the ostrich's home. He decided that although Otto's dance was beautiful that his new friend needed to loosen up and have a little fun. So he taught him how to do the "Porcy Shake". It goes like this: First you shiver - you quiver - then you shake - jump up very high - when you get back on the ground - you puff up - just like Porcy - and you strut all around! Porcy liked the jumping up part the best, for he could get higher than anyone. Of course he liked the puffing up and strutting too!

Suzie came down the path on her walk just as Otto and Porcy were doing this. She smiled and laughed and it looked like so much fun that she joined in. So there were the three of them, strutting and a puffing up and shaking them selves all around. They were really having so much fun!

Porcy accompanied Suzie on the rest of her walk and she introduced him to all of the animals that he did not get a chance to meet yet. Every one of them he would greet with a big smile on his friendly face, saying "Hi I am Porcy, glad to meet you!" Such a wonderful friendly fellow, Suzie was so very proud of him

When they got back to Suzie's house they talked a long time about the day. Porcy was so very excited, he had made so many new friends. Some of the animals he had never seen before and he was so very thrilled that he got to meet them. The Kodiak bear, the buffalo, the lions and the tiger, so many of the animals did not live in his forest. He also saw familar animals, like the bobcats, deer, fishers, and the elk. Porcy thanked Suzie for giving him the opportunity to meet new friends and learn about many things he did not know. Susie smiled softly with love at her little friend. Porcy's excitement reminded her that that is what part of life is all about; learning new things and meeting new people.

Then it was time for Porcy to go home. He talked poor Larry's ear off about all his new friends and his new adventures. As always Larry sat and listened and smiled, simply delighted that his friend had such a wonderful time!
