"Suzie", why don't you bring it up and see what happens." Larry said as they were wrapping up their phone conversation. She was so happy that Porcy was able to spend part of the winter with her. But she also knew there was a problem and she was a little worried that Porcy had not talked to her about it yet. Suzie and Larry always talked over everything that had to do with Porcy, for they both loved him very much.

Porcy was very gabby at dinner. Talking about his day with all his friends at her work place. He said Bear has been collecting jokes and saving them for him.

"Suzie," said Porcy, "some of the jokes were not very funny. But Bear sure thought they were. Was funny because he was laughing so much he could hardly tell some of them. And that made me laugh even though the joke did not. "

"Oh Porcy," said Suzie, "it sounds like you had a most wonderful day. I missed you not coming into the office to see me and the baby tigers but sounds like you were very busy."

Now the baby tigers were the problem that Suzie was a bit concerned about. They were new to the compound and still very young and needed a lot of care. The other day Porcy came into the office while Suzie was helping with their feeding. He had a very funny look on his face and barely had two words of greeting for her or the little tiger cubs. This was not like Porcy who always had a friendly greeting and words of kindness for everyone.

"Well Suzie", replied Porcy, "I think those tigers take up to much of everyone's time. And they are always whinning and crying about something. They sure do make a lot of noise for such little things. When are they going to leave?"

"The cubs are little yet Porcy, they can't really take care of their own needs. So they whine and cry to remind us that they are hungry or sometimes they just want some attention, to know that there is someone around. It makes them feel more secure in their new environment.", said Susie.

"But they need to make friends, because the compound will be their home now. They are not ready to go out there just yet, so I thought maybe you could help take care of them and be their friend in here, till they were ready to go outside."

"When I came in Suzie," said Porcy, "you were smiling very much as you helped feed the cubs. Does that mean you love them more than me?"

"Oh my dear little Porcy," replied Suzie, "Never could I love anyone like I love you. You have a very special place in my heart that belongs to only you and no one else will ever take your place."

"But you did look really happy", sighed Porcy.

"Porcy", said Suzie, "do you love Larry? When you are with him do you have fun?"

"Of course I do Suzie you know I love Larry, you are both very special to me. And I always have fun with both of you."

"So Porcy, you loving Larry, does that mean that you have less love for me?" Suzie asked.

"No it does not Suzie!" exclaimed Porcy as he placed his little paws firmly on his hips. Giving her a look that said he thought she was being most unreasonable now.

"Oh so then you do understand that just because I have love for the tiger cubs too it does not mean that I love you any less?" said Suzie. "If you would like Porcy, I could really use your help with cubs? And I know they could not start off with a better friend than you!"

After their little conversation Porcy came in each day Suzie was working and attended to the cubs. He held them in his little porcupine arms and talk to them about everyone they were going to meet on the compound.

When he went outside he told all his friends about the new members of their family and how much fun they were going to be. And of course all about how he was helping to take care of them, explaining how they were too little to care for themselves yet. He would puff up very big when he talked about this, because he knew this was a very important job.

As the cubs grew, under Porcy's care, bigger and bigger it was soon time for them to go outside. With much pride Porcy was allowed to lead them to their new home and would stay with them until they got use to their surroundings.

Porcy learned that it was ok to share love, that there was enough room in the heart for everyone and that everyone had a very special place that belonged only to them. And that with this sharing, the love only got bigger and bigger and that really was the very best part.
