When Porcy is not telling all the forest creatures' jokes and his wonderful made up little stories, he reads to them from his very favorite books. Porcy puffs up very big and proud when he reads from these books. For they were are all written by his Larry and Porcy is so very proud of him. Oh by the way, the P. in Porcy's name, it stands for Puffing-Up. He does this alot!
Porcy waits everyday for Larry to come home, so he can tell him about his adventures, about what is new in the forest and about making new friends. Porcy is always making new friends, for he is also a very friendly porcupine. Sometimes Larry will come home and say, "Come on Porcy, let us take a ride in the truck." Then Porcy does the happy feet dancing, for he really likes riding in Larry's truck.
Once when Larry got new tires, that made the truck so very high, he took Porcy for a ride. Porcy made him stop everywhere he saw his friends. Porcy would jump out of the truck, sashaying and swaggering kind of cocky like - all puffed up! He would strut over to his friends inviting them to come look at "HIS" new truck. He would kick the tires and talk loud and boastful about the truck and about his Larry. Larry would sit inside chuckling to himself, watching while his little friend had his fun. Such patience, understanding and love Larry always has for Porcy.

A getting to know you visit was planned. On this very first visit Porcy fell in love with Suzie and she with him. So much was his infatuation that Larry had to buy him a little white T-shirt with a red heart and writing that said I love Suzie right on the heart. Porcy would wear this shirt all the time, as he puffed up very big and proud, showing it off. Larry had such a hard time getting Porcy to let him even wash the shirt. Finally he had to be very blunt and say, "Porcy you are going to visit Suzie, I must tell you the shirt stinks! You must let me wash and dry it before you go." Then of course, Porcy took the shirt right off for he did not want to stink, especially when he visited Suzie. But he kept a close eye on Larry, even gave him the "Look". You know, that look that somebody gives you when you better do something. Porcy was making sure that no damage would be done to his very special shirt. And all the time he was watching, Larry was laughing to himself and smiling. He got such joy and delight from his little friend.
The stories you will be reading are about Porcy's visits with Suzie and how much the two of them grew to love being together whenever Larry was kind enough to allow this.
