Sequoyah

THE PAST

Most historians credit Sequoyah, the most famous Cherokee, with the invention of the syllabary (1812). The development of the syllabary was one of the events which was destined to have a profound influence on the tribe’s history. This extraordinary achievement marks the only known instance of an individual creating a totally new system of writing

THE PRESENT

The Sequoyah above, the great scholar, is the great great grandfather of my dear friend. The beautiful woman you see in the picture. It is he you see within the light. In honor and much pride my sister friend uses his name as her pen. She is in her 80's, a very strong of faith Christian woman. She see the creator in all things, all people and all religions. She believes that even though each of us have our own personal theologies, we are really all as one.

We are different her and I in some ways, yet we are the same, we are spirit sisters. And I am privileged to rest with her at her abode and in her heart and she in mine. We make snow angels together.

THE FUTURE

The whispering leaves song, at her site, was playing when I was gifted with this picture in the minds eyes. It was so beautiful I wanted to try and capture it for her to see. I can only do the best I can as a renderer, I am not an artist. But technology allows me to do a little bit and I am grateful for this.

I want the world to know also of this Sequoyah, here in this life time. A Cherokee Woman of rare beauty, gentle power, and amazing grace. The poet, who's spirit is so filled with love that she surrounds the world with hope.

Waldo, Sequoyah, I am proud of you and so very honored to be your spirit sister.

Please go meet Sequoyah
A beautiful woman
