When the Wolf Cried

The Book of Beginnings tells us how the earth was formed. How the Creator with all the Spirits that dwell above, made this great and wondrous place.

First the Creator reached down with loving hands and molded together all substance that attached to them. Forming the shape as a very large sphere. Here, the Creator told, this is where we will make a new dwelling and we shall call it Earth.

A Mother for Earth was chosen. When this Spirit placed herself in the middle of this new foundation, great substances of beauty and wonder grew from her body, spreading out in all directions. The Creator looked down pleased, and the name of Mother Earth or Mother Nature, which ever you chose to call her, was given to this Spirit.

Mother Earth then asked her sisters to send down their favorite entity that dwelled within them. Promising she would stay and always be guardian over their spiritual treasures. Stunning flowers, trees, plants, rocks, mountains, grasses and many other riches populated the earth with beauty and many healing powers. Each treasure having spirit, for that is from which they came.

Other Spirits watching heard Mother Earth's promise. They decided that one of them would hover close to the earth to always watch over her. Continually generating a cycle of great light and deep dark. One would show her beauty and help her grow, the other giving a time for rest and replenishing.

The Creator being happy with this suggestion gave the Spirit that was chosen amongst them, the name of Father Sky. Father Sky called to his brother Spirits to join with him. Then clouds, lightning, thunder, stars, the moon, the sun, winds, all the things that come from the sky, were added to the many gifts given to the earth.

Because this new world spread out in four directions it was agreed that four loving Spirits would each continually dance with pleasure and delight upon this new place. The names selected for these Spirits, became Seasons; Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall.

Each Season had a very unique color but again other Spirits were asked if they wanted to help. Many Spirits added their special color of being to the landscape paintings of this planet. All the Spirits together, created the remarkable kaleidoscope of colors that are seen on our earth.

The Creator and Spirits looked down and they were very happy with the progress of this new world. But something was missing, so the Creator degreed that there should also be many beings of difference, to share and enjoy this new handiwork. Then the Creator took from its own essence and two of them were formed. One was called Man and the other named Woman.

Each Spirit was called upon to create from itself creatures that would join with the Man and Woman in enjoying the many blessings bestowed. These creations were called animals and each were given the Spirit's name. Fox, Bear, Wolf, Squirrel, Buffalo, Bird, Worm, Snake and many others spread out over the many parts of the globe. Some of course in different form than what we see today. But all started from the Spirit offerings of the very first of their species.

Once again the Creator with the Spirits gazed below, they saw that all of this pleased them. But as they watched, great droplets of liquid begin falling from the eyes of the Spirit Wolf. They continued falling as Wolf Spirit turned its head from the center and looked in each of the four directions that formed the earth, North, East, South and West. Ponds, streams, lakes, rivers, seas, and oceans were now being formed over this new land. Many bodies of water created from the continual flood of Wolf tears.

The Creator knew of the possible future this Spirit was seeing. What might happen to Mother Earth, Father Sky, the Resources and each of the Beings they had lovingly placed upon this world. Knew that if too many from the family of the first beings of creation forgot from where they came, what would happen. That this new planet, with all its many gifts, blessings and treasures, would eventually be completely destroyed.

The Creator decided that from that time forth Wolf's tears of great empathy, and sorrow, would be used to replenish this place called earth. To nourish it, help it to survive and continually renew itself.

Out of great sorrow, there can come hope, out of compassion there can possibly be change. Hold close all the cherished blessings bestowed upon us, remember always when the wolf cried - and why.
